Mike worked for 25 years as Manager, Physical Activity for the Nova Scotia Department of Health and Wellness. He worked with colleagues in recreation, public health, education, universities and municipal governments on the planning and implementation of evidence-based policies, strategies, and services to increase population levels of physical activity. Mike worked at the national level on federal/provincial policies on physical activity. In retirement he has worked on numerous volunteer boards and projects to create policy on various forms of physical activity. Previous positions included Executive Director of the Recreation Association of Nova Scotia, Lecturer, Dalhousie University and the Dartmouth branch of the Canadian Mental Health Association. He has an MSc (Dalhousie) in Recreation and Special Populations 1978. Mike has a daughter, Jillian, with Downs Syndrome.
